They display payment in progress to let you know that they've begun processing your earnings for the month. Personally I'd rather see Payment in Progress than nothing at all. That Payment in Progress just turns into the Payment link with the check information after 2,3 days. With however many members of Adsense, it makes sense that Payment in Progress doesn't transform into Payment quickly.

As to the person asking where it says Payment in Progress:
When you log in, under where it says "Today's Earnings: $#*$!.yy" you can click the link that says View Payment History. Alternatively, you can click the "My Account" tab, and select the link that says Payment History in the bar below the account tabs.

People sure get antsy when it's that time of the month for their webmaster welfare checks.

They always come, just be patient.

A bit worried, PIP and it has been 5 days already, usually only 2-3 days.
