How long does it usually take to start getting stats?

I put the adsense code up last night, I'm getting targeted ads but there has still been no activity showing up on my adsense account.

I'm not sure if it's normal to have an extended delay for new users or not, how long should I wait until I contact them to ask?

You should start seeing stats within a few hours. Perhaps longer for new accounts. I'd wait 24-48 hours before contacting AdSense support.
