But just how hard is it?
Use Chitika or YPN.
Adsense are having problems with their targeting and it will be 10x easier to earn $30 with a different company.
Of course this could change, but if you put all your efforts into Adsense now, you might get very discouraged.
However, if you had say, 100 pages about products getting 10 impressions each per day, I think you would be reach your goal. If you stay away from Adsense.
Thanks guys.
Oh and ill look into the other ppc sites too.
I looked around the last hour or so and totally chaned my mind about adsense though.
I wouldn't make your mind up about Adsense based on someone elses experience.
The *best* think you can do for your site is to test out Adsense (for like a month or so), then test out the other programs for a similar period of time or simultaneously.
You may find that your earnings are way above what you've read and if you didn't *try* it, you could be missing out on some good money.
My site just started in the middle of september and I earned $12 that month, on october i gained another $75, now it was closed to $100 to think that it was still 10th of november, the only question I have in mind is, "will I get this money?"
As for earning $30 a day, if you're starting from no site and no traffic I'd say it's going to be hard. But possible. Stay focused on that niche where you have no competition - that sounds like the most promising approach.
And, original poster - do put your advertising code inside an include. Just trust me :)
I don't want to give you bad hope but because you don't have any experience with developing websites it may take a while before you'll start earning enough money to live.
There are multiple ways to make money on the web. You can develop content websites and use services like AdSense, YPN, Chitika, Amazon Associates, ... to earn money but there are also other options like promoting affiliate programs with PPC services like AdWords.
If you want to develop content websites then you'll need to get a fair amount of visitors a day. There are many factors but generally you will need at last a few thousands a day to reach $30-50/day.
One of the important things is that you shouldn't give up too early. It takes some time to get indexed in the major search engines.
I do snoop around quite alot. It always intrests me to see two different threads in the same day one saying "My profits are up 200% today! Anyone else see this?" and 10 people agreeing and then antoher thread posted an hour later saying "OMG! What has adsense done? Anyone else seen their money go down by half?" and 10 people agreeing, lol.
Alex, two ways, first I checked the ads on my site everyday for content (of course realizing that I would not and should not get credit from my isp), and got suspicious when I followed a keyword thru adwords back to my site and then clicked on an ad on my site and did not show an impression by adsense. Second, I then asked some one to check on my theory from their home computer and I didn't get credit for the impression or the click.
You do know that you're not allowed to click the ads on your site right?
It could be that Google was just discounting YOUR clicks, not all clicks from your local ISP.
You don't have to be at home for Google to know it's you...
Find yourself a nice niche market/subject.
Build a well "constructed" website for SEO by search engines and people. Consider the placement of ads in page design. Also consider the content of page, (Adsense being "contextual advertising"), so that the correct type of ads will appear. Use Adwords, (although I never have).
Constantly check your stats. What keywords and phrases are people using to find your pages? Are they the right ones etc etc?
It was said before that the hardest part is from $0 - $10 a day, after that, (considering that you've gone through a lot of the "trial and error" stages by then), getting $10+ a day is not as difficult.
How hard is it to earn $30 - $50 a day?....
I think its quite hard actually, well for me anyway. While some people are lucky enough to have high paying keywords, my site is in a low paying area. For some 30 or even 3 clicks gets them there $30 a day, where as for me it is more like 200+. I spent a long time around the $5-$10 mark, but thankfully have increased now, although still find it difficult to reach that $30 a day target. I am amazed at these people who quote $100,$1000 day; that is just a real eye popper!
My target is at the moment $75 a day. It might seem like small fry to many, but to get $75 a day consistantly, basically matches what I get paid in my 9-5 job. That would be mind blowing. Sadly my hard-earned $ get converted into local currency here and so half of that money is 'lost', but Adsense is at the moment helping me buy those little extras. At the moment Adsense is my friend (touch wood)...
This months peak views a day:
my #1 competitor = 20m page views a day?!?!?! Am I reading this right?
My #2 competitor = 10m! WHOA!
My #3 competitor - 1.7m a day! And this site is just plain horible!
There are really no other worthy sites by the way. All the other ones are registered with free
domains. Is this a good thing? Is this really promising?
The 20m, 10m and 1.7m is probably not pageviews a day but something else. I guess it's either "Traffic Rank" or "Reach per million users".
Am I reading this wrong?
The game that these sites are on is a very popular browser based java MMORPG. There are not alot of great sites on this game. I could understand that this if this chart is a little inacurate...
