Most of the time, I think, "well there is a lot you benefit from google - like the searches, so don't knock them too much" but something always puzzles me. If I want to look at adsense clicks it often takes ages for the page to load. Sometimes I actually give up and come back later.

Is this just that there is heavy traffic logging into adsense? I can understand that.

Funnily enough I have noticed this on other major sites as well - yet I always thought that the time taken to load a page was an important factor on whether people stay with a site or move on elsewhere. Is it that if you get BIG, you know that people will come back or stay around waiting for a site to load, or is this something to do with something else?- plenty of sites load quickly so it is nothing to do with my computer.

You mean the landing page of the ad loads slow?

It's somethimes strange how terrible bad programmed are big web sites.

As I changed AdSense ads to SSI, I was concerned about the longer load time, so I checked with a speed test.

I lost about 2 or 3 1/100 seconds, but big web sites tested hat beed 3 times slower to load.

This has happened a lot during the last week, so I hope now G has uploaded its new features, referrals etc, that things will get back to normal soon.

Google's AdSense frontend thingy runs over SSL, and is also querying a large distributed database. It's reasonable to expect it to be somewhat slow.

If you mean the speed of loading the adsense ads is slowing you down, then you can try using iframes

They added urchin tracking a while back, I noticed it really started to drag at that point.
