I have real ads on my most popular site today! Sites that I would actually link to even if they were not paying me. All the generic ads are gone. I looked and looked and couldn't find a single ad for... you know the sites I'm talking. Good riddance!

I am going to live with the 30-40% pay cut by first, just waiting it out. Second, by giving the new ads the space they deserve... if they stay this targeted. I had been hiding them somewhat because I thought my visitors deserved better. Now... they are actual sites selling things that my visitors are actually interested in.

Is the change of ads down to improved targetting from the bot, or have you been blocking the scrapers / MFA and other junk?

I've been blocking the above for a couple of months now, and the long term effect is that smartpricing seems to have placed a higher value on the clicks, and earnings have increased by some 30%.

I'm sure the fact that there are real advertisers selling real goods and services hasn't gone un-noticed by my visitors. I personally think that the quality and relevance of the ads say something to visitors about the site itself. Many visitors will not know about the bizzarre behaviour of the target bot - they will assume that YOU as webmaster have selected the ads, and judge you accordingly.

I just wish that real advertisers (in my sector anyway) were better at writing ad copy. I think the scrapers and junk sites are very good at writing copy - maybe that's what gives their ads higher ctr? Real advertisers tend to be a little on the un-imaginitive side :(
