Adsense, affiliate links and pop-ups/unders

One of the most cloudy issues regarding Adsense - 2nd only to how much commision you get per click - is regarding other advertising/affiliate schemes.

I've read all the T&C's, FAQ's, etc... but am finding hard to fully understand what is permissible.

It sounds as though an affiliate text link to, say, Amazon would not be allowed on the same page as Adsense ads.

Am I right so far?

How would this effect banner ads? Or pop-ups/unders?

Or is it only advertising networks? What about affiliate networks such as CJ?

I sent an e-mail to Google on Sunday night, and am awaiting clarification of exactly the same issues. I'll post here when I hear something back.

My pages have affiliate text links in the right margin, and I was accepted for the program (but only after being rejected and writing back in response).

I just received an e-mail from Google in response to my query.

I was told that it was okay to show AdSense ads as long as I didn't have any ads that mimicked the look and feel of them. The Google person even specifically noted that affiliate program recommendation links were kosher on the same pages as AdSense ads.
