Just noticed that euroseek now appear to be taking Google sponsored ads as well as Google natural listings.

Thought euroseek were with Espotting?

They were. Euroseek was always a just a medium sized partner though, I believe. No great loss, but it is just another bad piece of news for Espotting.

I am surprised that Google have accepted Euroseek as a partner; I don't think that they meet the minimum traffic requirements, or even come near.

Euroseek must have a fair amount of traffic. Espotting were featuring them on their front page and Google would not be giving premium search feeds to small or even medium sized players.

It looks like the Euroseek deal with Espotting was only signed in June 2003 too so something must have happened for them to be able to terminate within a year.

Take a look at the Alexa data for Euroseek. Not a great measure I know, but they get less traffic than Mirago, who I regard as a true medium sized player.

Only in November have they had a surge in traffic. Prior to that, they were nowhere really.

Perhaps they had a clause in the contract about the minimum requirements - such as a logo on the Espotting front page or that they would only stay as long as Espotting had Yahoo as a client.

Or perhaps Espotting didn't pay on time. That is known to annoy people from time to time.

You would have thought that Espotting would have wanted to hold onto them as an affiliate even if their traffic wasn't too great.

Looks like the reason they don't have any front page partners now is that the majority of them have left and gone to Overture or Google.

The biggest concerns that I have heard from Espotting affiliates are a) That they don't pay on time, b) Their customer service is poor and c) That technically their system is vastly inferior to that of Overture and Google.

I have never heard (c).

They do have a few technical problems now and then, but no more so than the others in my experience. Certainly nothing to worry about.
