I was wondering if anybody advertises on Pageseeker.com or ROAR.com? Is either one worth trying? Anyone receiving quality traffic from either of these sites?
(PR for Pageseeker is 6/10 and PR for ROAR is 2/10)

Thanks.

Hmmm, sounds like you got the same email I got.
I am also interested in hearing about them.

Anyone?

Thanks

We have a few clients running on Pageseeker, and we are happy with the results, but don't expect alot of traffic. From what I gather, some of their distribution comes from redirecting about 150,000 domains that act like search results.

They are bad. Just like Kanodle. They have very poor click fraud control. You have to constantly watch your reports, because sooner or later one keyword will start receiving A LOT of traffic and not by suprise you will see 0% ROI on that keyword. All you can do is to DELETE it. When you finaly remove all the bad keywords they couldn't protect, you will get a new wave next month. Not to mention little traffic they have.

I thought I would take this opportunity to answer a few of your queries, dispel a couple of rumours, and basically set the record straight.

Firstly, for those who are not aware, PageSeeker has been around since 1999 and is a traditional ppc search engine. ROAR was developed throughout 2001 and went live in December of that year. It is a ppc portal that qualifies all traffic through stringent categorisation.

Our traffic is generated through pure searches, along with a closely-monitored affiliate network.

We only charge on English-speaking traffic, and have very strong anti-fraud protection.

We pride ourselves in delivering highly-targeted traffic to our advertisers and have a long list of long-term, very satisfied clients.

And it is because of that, that I am somewhat disappointed to hear any negative feedback at all. I can assure you that this is not something we are used to, and I would be more than happy to discuss any issues with you all.

Paul.

It's hard to discuss anything when you see behaviour same as on Kanoodle. On no other PPC (except Kanoodle) I have experienced so sudden wave of trafic on keywords that were completely normal before and then next day they start sending 1000% more traffic. When you check their performance you see 0% or very close to 0% ROI. What does that tell you and what does that tell you if you are the only one (beside Kanoodle) with problems like that? On top of that, roarboy, your bid management system is VERY hard to work with. You cannot change bids in bulk (except to delete them all and then enter them again and then you fell back to the end of the line at that bid level). Why is that so? Not to mention that A LOT of keywords won't be accepted because your system determines they don't receive enough clicks. Yup, one will only get traffic to keywords which are the MOST popular, any other more targeted keyword and you can forget it and how do MOST popular keywords reflect on ROI? Pretty average, right? Right. Even so bad I had to kill my bids down to 2c/click only not to be bombed by ****ty traffic your affiliates deliver. With all that in mind how do you expect me to waste my time talking to one of your reps and trying to talk him in to doing something for me here? He won't be able to bring in 10-times more traffic, would he? Oh, by the way, Kanoodle makes me 4 times more than you do. Guess where that puts you? Yup at the end of the line. Now guess why I don't even wanna bother to complain. This is the only time and it's only because you acted so suprised.

roarguy, I advise you to start a PPC campaign on PageSeeker yourself. You'll be somewhat disappointed again. Until then don't talk about a long line of long-term very satisfied clients, ok? OK.

May not be Roar's fault but we had a domain we were using for some years "stolen" from us. The new domain "owner" was redirecting traffic to Roar.

Roar were completely unhelpful. When we provided proof of the fact that the domain was stolen/fraudulently taken they didn't want to know, and didn't even bother to reply to our request to investigate that affiliate's account. When we informed them that we had started ICANN proceedings they didn't want to know. When we informed them that we won the arbitration, they still didn't want to know. It was only after the registrar actually transferred the domain back to us that our customers stopped getting sent to Roar.

Irrespective of any other comments others make here, I have no respect for Roar.

It is also a pain in the "arse" to do business with them. I spend $30k plus with Overture and Google per month and made that very clear to them. However, I grew very frustrated at their antiquated way of processing credit card info. First, it is long distance to fax items from USA to Australia. I would have to send them 5 documents for each Credit Card I use ( I rotate them throughout the month since I do such high volumes). To make me send pictures of each credit card, and documents made me give up. I get turned off too quickly if I have to jump through too many hoops to give someone money. I suppose they will claim they are protecting "me" but the reality of it, is they are protecting themselves. They need to get an up to date secure system to accept cc transactions over the net.

McSpike, I would be interested in talking with you directly to find out more about your predicament, and your specific situation. Please email me, and I would be more than happy to help you out.

Macro, with your situation I would suggest that someone has picked up a dropped domain and is forwarding the traffic to us. I would suggest you contact the domain owner, or if you want to email me the details, I will get in touch with them for you. I can assure you that we have not taken over the domain, however I am more than happy to help you get it back if possible.

Glenv, we do have stringent measures in place to protect BOTH us and our users. We would always suggest wiring funds (we are happy to absorb the wiring costs), rather than using credit cards anyway, however we have also just activated the new Verified By Visa (VBV) processing, so that is also available too.

As I said, I am more than happy to discuss any specific issues with you all, so please feel free to sticky mail me your details to talk about it further.

Cheers.

Hi roarguy,

Could you give us a break down of what percentage of traffic we can expect from pure search and what percentage from your "closely-monitored affiliate network"?

And, can you opt out of the non-search based traffic?

This has been informative. I received an email asking me to work with them about a week ago, and I took a look at their set-up. I'm glad I did not move forward now.

Roarguy, you obviously didn't read my post through. Read it again. You didn't read well what Macro had to say either. They already fixed the domain issue themselves and you were of no help then. See support like this makes me go uuughhhhhhh... Support that doesn't listen. Almost like talking to a generic robot replies.

Hi

We have a couple of products that we are advertising on Roar.com. One of them is doing very well while the other is not.

Roar drives a lot of searches through the exit traffic of popular sites.
For one of the products that we advertise on Roar- we get good results as roar.com receives relevant traffic for the search terms from a very popular site in this category.

I have to agree. I don't think they listen very well.

Wow, thanks for all the info. I have been away for a week and haven't had a chance to check out the latest replies.
I don't think I'm checking any further into ROAR. I may check out Pageseeker, but probably will not do anything there either. Maybe it's best just to stick with my current PPC engines... Google, Overture, LookSmart & FindWhat.

Good luck everyone, and thanks for your help. :)
