Adwords Trouble with Redirects

It seems that adwords has a problem with using redirects.

I had to come up with an alternative to linking directly to affiliate merchant site using adwords since most of the sites are currently using a index page pop-up.

Are there any other ways to work around this problem without having to become a programming guru?
