Similar brand product. allowed to advertise as such?

Hi guys,

I have a product line that I am embarking on that is VERY similar to an existing VERY popular product brand/line.

Am I allowed to advertsize in this fashion?

"Similar Product Y Apparel" where I directly reference the brand name product in my ads?

The policies vary from engine to engine.. Usually Yahoo is the most strict. If you have a comparison page that your advertising it will usually be universally excepted.
