If I sign up how do Google vet adwords? Can I compete for any keyword I want, can I write anything I want (nothing dodgy :) )? How strict are they?

>Can I compete for any keyword I want

Pretty much, with some legal restrictions, eg. No pharmacutical ads to the UK.

>can I write anything I want

They have fairly strict guidelines about "hype" type language, eg. all caps, multiple exclamation marks, etc. Nothing unreasonable.

I'd just jump right in if I were you, its a very intuative system. Set a low daily budget while your experimenting, but beyond that just suck it and see. :)

FleaPit, here is a link to the AdWords Editorial Guidelines, which were mentioned above:

[adwords.google.com...]

These guidelines are well worth reading before creating your ads. Hey, it always pays to know the standards that you'll be checked against, when your ads are reviewed! With this information you'll be able to write an ad likely to be approved the first time thru the review process.

Note to Brett, Shak, and Moderators: I hope that I have understood correctly that I may post a link in a context such as this. If I am mistaken, please feel free to edit. In the future, may I post useful links to such things as Glossary, Optimization Tips, Common Tasks, etc. when it is appropriate to the discussion? Many thanks! AWA

FleaPit (aah, your nick makes me recall fondly an old apartment I used to live in ...) ... once you figure out how to get your Adwords stuff up and running (see link in previous post), there is a terrific thread in the Supporter's Forum here that talks about how to make the best of it.

Cheers!
