Q: Have you ever considered inviting another Google employee to participate at Webmaster World? Might this be a good opportunity?
I was thinking about that question a while ago because I don't make it over to the AdWords forum as much as I'd like to, and I was thinking that it would be wonderful if some Googler would volunteer a little free time to answer questions about AdWords. Sure enough, I was talking to someone the other day who answers AdWords questions, and they mentioned that they'd be happy to help answer some questions on the web.
I talked to Brett and the Google/AdWords forum moderators, and folks were groovy about having another Googler show up from time to time. So without further ado, I'd like to introduce AdWordsAdvisor.
I'll give you some background info, just so you know what to expect. Just like with GoogleGuy, AdWordsAdvisor (AWA?) is going to be a single person. They'll have a different posting style than me. I'm pretty casual; they may be a little more formal--we'll see. We're going to keep AWA's identity anonymous in case they want to go on vacation, or if we ever need to switch to a different person in a pinch. AWA is going to stop by in their limited free time (mostly during work hours), so don't expect a ton of posts. If I had to guess, I would expect AdWordsAdvisor to stop by and post less often than me, because let's face it--I need to get out more.
They might start out pretty slowly to get a feel for things, and don't expect them to post on really controversial or strategic or technical threads. The person serving in this role is very familiar with AdWords and answers customer questions about nuts and bolts stuff and improving account performance. But they're not an engineer and not a techie, so I would mostly look for answers to basic questions to help newer folks with AdWords.
That's all I can think of right now, but I'll chime in if there's something I forgot. Oh, one last thing: I know just about everyone knows this, but please be nice. I've had a good long time on WebmasterWorld to thicken my skin, but this is someone who is just starting out. Thanks everyone!
Wow, talk about doing whatever you can to appease the web marketing community, definitely a great move on Googles part.
Thanks to everyone for the very warm welcome. I'm truly looking forward to being a part of this excellent forum. I've been an almost daily reader since early January, and can't wait to start posting in earnest.
I know I have a very high standard to match - that set by GoogleGuy. I'll do my best. Only 1642 posts to go, and I'll be where he is today!
Thanks GoogleGuy, for making this happen. Thanks also to Brett, Shak, and the other moderators for their support in advance.
I hope to add value, and I know I'll learn a lot myself.
Until post #2, thanks again!
Best,
AdWordsAdvisor
Late breaking PS to Martinibuster - Because I'm not a part of the AdSense team - and not extremely familiar with that program - I think it would be best that I not address issues in that arena.
Sorry to pelt you with controversy right off the bat, but can you address this thread when you get a chance? [webmasterworld.com...]
It concerns the automatic correction of misspelled queries in AdWords. (This thread used to be linked from the front page of WW, but that link recently disappeared -- anyone know what's up with that?) Thanks!
I should probably say that I am most likely to be reading/posting late in the day as a rule. The days tend to be rather, uhm, full!
I hope to 'show up' every week-day to keep abreast of things, and hope to post more frequently as I get more familiar with my new surroundings.
And by the way, I'll answer to AdWordsAdvisor, AWA, or AA. Proud to be any one of those!
