If I have a page that ranks very highly for a competitive term, what's to stop me from contacting one of the adword advertisers on the side?

I could check the price for that keyword combination in the adwords program and then offer a better deal for placement on my site.

Is this old hat or problematic? I just thought of it and so may be missing something...

your quote will be CPM not CPC unless you build a CPC system and put it on your website.
