I started using budget optimizer on a few campaigns. It is suppose to spread a monthly budget acorss 30 days. A few questions come to mind.
Is the 30 days - 30 days from when I start, or is the start on a calendar basis?
Also, I pause certain budget optimizer campaigns during weekends and holidays. Does google attempt to still spend the budget across the remaing days of the intial 30?
Thanks in advance.
I hope it's OK that I step in for AWA on this one. Enabling the budget optimizer starts what we call the delivery period for your campaign and begins that 30 day cycle at that point, independent of what day of the month it actually is. Your allotted budget will be delivered over the course of the ensuing 30 days.
Pausing and resuming a campaign does not impact the AdWords delivery period of the campaign, so the budget optimizer will accelerate delivery of your ads to continue to try and meet your monthly budget for that campaign if you are pausing your ads on weekends and holidays. For example, if you have a monthly budget of $300, a normal delivery rate would be $10/day, on average. However, if you pause your campaign on weekends and a couple of holidays over the course of the month and only have 20 total active days, you should expect an average daily delivery of $15/day in order for the budget optimizer to meet your monthly budget within the 30 day cycle. Since the budget optimizer cannot predict those pausing and resuming patterns, you would probably actually have a few days towards the end of the 30 day cycle where the optimizer delivers your ads in excess of $15/day to utilize your undelivered budget before time expires.
