Two Ads, one search term

I have 2 adwords accounts which i try to keep separate.
There is a search term i have in account 1 that also appears in account 2 both pointing to the same domain (different ads). This was not intentional, but with the thousands of keywords i have in these accounts it was bound to happen.
My question is whether having this search term in account 1 will prevent it showing up in account 2?

If the displeyed URL is the same, then only one ad will be displayed.

Are you talking about accounts or campaigns?

If its accounts, if google knows you have 2 accounts and has linked them then only 1 will show at a time, if they dont know then obviously both ads will show at the same time. Of course if both ads are using the same domain then only 1 will show, regardless who owns the accounts.

Be careful though, its against adwords TOS to have multiple accounts using the same keywords, its Double Serving and could get you in trouble, even though in this case you should be ok as the urls are the same.

Thanks for the replys.

So if i had a keyword in both accounts with different ads - one showing a display url of www.widgets.com and another of www.widgets.com/widgets/ - would that be considered to be the same url and only on of those ads would be shown at a time?

No, those are two different URLs. Why don't you just remove the keyword from one of the accounts?

My original account was setup a while ago when i didnt really know what i was doing with adwords but it still has a decent conversion rate so i didnt want to disrupt it. After doing many tutorials i decided to setup another account to see what i could do with my new found skills.

One more question:

If you have a key phrase in one campaign as broad match and the same key phrase in another campaign as exact match will only one of these ads show at a time?

Within one account, only one ad will show per query in all situations.
