I have a promotional code/voucher to use in Adwords.

Basically, I'm in the process of setting up a small business and want to use the code to try out adwords to promote my product.

The problem I have is that the expiry date of the code is fast approaching.

My business will not be ready for a few months yet.

Is there anyway of swapping the voucher with google for one with a later expiry date?

Set up your Adwords account while the voucher is still in effect, and enter the promotional code so it's added to your balance. You can take your time about using it up.

I'm a bit new to all this. Do I have to enter an actual ad in order to set up my account because I'm not ready to do that?

Also, when you say "I can take my time"... My business won't be ready for a few months after tthe expiry date. Will that still be cool?

I am due in a meeting shortly, so I'll have to make this very brief. ;)

The advice that buckworks provided is right on the money. I'd advise creating your account with some sort of 'placeholder' ad, then, when done with set-up, immediately pause the campaign (or the Ad Group) you've created.

You may leave it paused for as long as you like - no worries there.

You are really ahead of the game in a way. You can spend the next couple of months coming up to speed on AdWords, at your own pace, before you start in earnest. ;)
