I have recently fallen foul of the policy of suspending ads pending review after making some changes to keywords and the title.
If I set up a new ad group within the same campaign for the same website will I run the risk of having the original ad group suspended?
Following on from that, if I do have 2 ad groups set up do Google just display my ad once on a search result page?
I've just discovered these forums - I wish I'd found them years ago!

I'm new to this forum so not sure if it is acceptable to *bump* so aplogies if it is not.

Basically, all I would like to know is can adding or changing an ad group in a campaign affect other ad groups in that campaign if a review is required?

I'm worried that all my ads will be suspended pending review of a new or changed one.

Welcome. And, *bump* all you like. :)

Unless your keywords or ad are somehow in violation of Google's rules, the answer to both is - 'no'.

...if I do have 2 ad groups set up do Google just display my ad once on a search result page?

Yes, only one ad from your account will display at a time. [Some forums here report otherwise, but such instances are relatively unusual.] There's no penalty for having duplicate keywords - simply, the ad with the highest Quality Score will show. If the ad and CPC are the same, they'll likely split coverage.

If the AdWords Keyword tool suggests a keyword can I assume that it is OK to use?
I'm trying to promote a site with 'adult' content and I'm getting a bit paranoid about adding words because I don't want to be banned. However, some of the words and phrases that the keyword tool suggest seem a bit dangerous.

Yes!

I don't know where your paranoia stems from - but getting "banned" is just not as common as I think you think it is. Google is run by reasonable people. Don't intentionally break any obvious rules and you'll be fine.

I'd like to make a small but important distinction here. The AdWords Keyword tool does not actually suggest keywords. Rather, it simply gives you a list of keywords which are related to the keyword you've entered.

Then, it is up to the advertiser to make an informed decision (based on their unique knowledge of their business, and what they do and do not offer) as to which of the keywords to use, which to not use, and which to incorporate as negative keywords.
