Hi guys,

I dont know if its a bug or if its meant but i see only ads on top and on bottom. There are no ads on the right side. A friend of mine in asia can see the ads and one in the middle east cant see them as well. So not sure whats up.

I have the same thing here in Poland on google.pl - that is ads on the top and bottom, none on the sides.

It will be a selective test; Google do this all the time when they're experimenting with new layouts. Most people clicking the above link will see the familiar layout.

Sounds interesting though - how many ads are you seeing top / bottom?

There were 3 ads on top and 3 on the bottom. The space on the right looked weired as it was just empty. On the top right there was a green sponsered ads link which if clicked on would lead you to an advertisers site and if you clicked several times then each time you would end up on a different site. The sites were however not the sites of the top 3 or bottom 3 advertisers but rather the sites of the companies that are normally advertising on the right hand side. The text link was so small that I cant imagine any google users would click on it as they wouldnt notice the link

I wonder what sort of results this kind of placements would generate. Obviously over the natural listings is a good place, but down at the bottom?

Most of today I can still only see the ads on top and on bottom. Guess lots of testing going on. Not sure they would do this as less ads means less revenue for them

3 ads above the SERPS would quite possibly result in higher revenue; but that's no doubt what they're trying to establish...

I was thinking this over and I would imagine that if fewer ads would show due to the ads on the right side being taken off then most likely a bidding war would be the result because many companies depends on adwords for customers and will want to remain listed on the first page. I dont like the sound of that.
