Ni Hao Folks

Was just looking at the billing preferences page and came across a section called "Backup Payment Details" which allows you to submit additional credit card details.

I am assuming this kicks in should the primary card fail for some reason.

If so, what a great tool.

sorry if I am late to the party with this news, kinda out of the loop these days.

Good info Shak. I actually didn't know this was in place. I'm putting in my backup card now..

I've been using it successfully for over a month as AMEX and Adwords were having problems in Q4 last year. With the backup card, my campaigns kept showing. Nice work Google!

This was introduced 30 or 40 days back. Um.. Wait.. Let me rephrase that to - "I noticed it 30 or 40 days back".

G has been slowly introducing it to the various accounts. Some of my accounts got it nearly 2 months ago and some got it only last week.

I'd swear that I've had 2 credit cards in there for at least 2 years if not more. Are we talking about the same thing?

Of course the one time I had to switch over, it didn't go too smoothly. Google did 10 authorizations in 2 minutes to the secondary card and the card processor put a "hold" on the account suspecting fraud!

Hmmm. Name sounds familiar. Can't quite place it... Something to do with the misty past...

Shak. Shak. Hmmmm.

Oh wait!

Welcome back Shak! I hope to see your name here much more often!

G has been slowly introducing it to the various accounts...

Correct. ;)

Does Adwords inform you that your primary card was declined and they had to use your backup card? My AmEx was declined last month, pausing my ads, and going back and forth between AmEx and Google, each blamed the other. One customer support person finally suggested I re-enter my AmEx information, which I did, and then it went through within 10 minutes and my ads were running again. I have to admit it's a bit disconcerting that fixed the problem.
