I Think, but could be very wrong!
but the limits are dynamic, they grow with you, if you have 1 keyword spending 0.90p a day for 2 clicks, then google is never going to give you the space and power for 2,500,000 million keywords, but if you have 2,500,000 million targted, relervant, Active (and by that i mean receving traffic as well) keywords then google will allow you to have more, it is all about relervance!
I used to get cut off at 50k, then when Google introduced the mininum bids, I had to raise a lot of bids. My spending went up and they allowed me 75k keywords. Now that I got my spending back down (but profits up!), I only get 50k or so keywords again.
Took a look and found a lot I didn't know about that never got an impression for months. Used to be in the "Disabled" days, they'd disable any without impressions for 90 days so it was easy to know what to dispose of. Now it's harder; I have to look at each AdGroup.
The "Find and Edit Keyword" report doesn't let me distinguish between old keywords with no impressions vs. ones I added yesterday.

Well, I know where this memory comes from Kings on steeds! ;) Just a spot of clarification, though: at one time, there were suggested limits for keywords which applied to all accounts, and which were:
1000 Keywords Per Campaign
(100 Add Groups Per Campaign)
25 Campaigns
50,000 Keywords In An Account.
For quite some time, though, keyword limits vary per account - as has been mentioned in this thread - and are dependent on how successfully keywords have been used in the account.
If you run into a keyword limit and need more, you may certainly contact AdWords support with a request. They'll review your account, and reply dependent on what they find there:
* An account chock full of thousands of keywords that are carefully selected and performing well? Your request will likely be approved.
* An account chock full of thousands of randomly picked keywords that aren't targeted to the products or services advertised? You'll likely get suggestions about how to streamline your keyword lists, and more effectively use keywords within the current limit.

So here it goes again. It used to be that you could use:
* 2000 keywords per campaign (inclusive of all Ad Groups, but could have been spread out among up to 100 Ad Groups per campaign)
* 25 campaigns x 2000 keywords = 50,000 Keywords in an account.
