How can I run a US view of Google from the UK to check my ads are showing in the USA (only)?

Add "&gl=us" to the search url

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I use a proxy server in the designated country. I haven't checked in a while, but back then the gl-parameter delivered different ads compared to a direct proxy query.
