I just recieved a very odd e-mail from what seems to be the adwords team however I'm suspicious and here's why:

a snippet:

Hello,

We noticed that you haven't started running your AdWords ads. You are just minutes away from showing your ads on Google in front of targeted online users. To start receiving qualified leads from Google, all you have to do now is activate your account by following these steps:

They go on to list the steps and provide live urls.

The reasons I'm suspicious are:

1- My Adwords account is activated and has been for over a year

2- They sent it to the wrong e-mail address (webmaster@).

Did anyone else recieve anything like this?

...and the email link that you click on will probably take you to a spoofed AdWords page, so they (whoever they are, possibly a competitor) can try to get your username and password to cause some damage (delete adverts/keywords or simply pause all your campaigns).

If your ads are still running, ignore it.

I wouldn't even give my Google Advertising password to my mum. There is simply no end to the amount of havoc that one could wreak on your account in short order!

If you're not running a web based email account, then turn your HTML option off and receive your email in plain text - it's REAL easy to see who the phishers and scammers are, because it displays the actual URL that they want you to go to.

Never seen anything like this. I guess you should just ignore the email, since everything is running fine.

With potential phishing emails, I would contact Google from within your account and paste the email into the box (preferably after viewing source so they can see the actual HTML of the link). and ask them if it's legit or a scam.

If it's a scam, they'll do something internal with the email.

If you have a rep, I'd just forward the email to the rep and ask if it's legit. This way they can look at the email headers if they like.
