Positions plummet, ads randomly pulled, "account budget" exceded

Yesterday evening we were trying to get good positions on a few terms, so we put the bids right up (and I mean right up). Our ads that were in about 4th went to first. About 15 minutes later, the ads disappeared. The diagnostic tool said that we had reached the budget for our account. Our account doesn't have a budget (this message comes up if you have a credit account and you go over your credit limit - this is not the case as that account not a credit account, and the budgets on the campaigns are far in excess of what is needed). Anyway, it was knocking off time, so we left it.

This morning, the ads were back on, back in number one. Then suddenly they plummeted. We've tried everything, but even bidding at £60 a click won't get us higher than 50th! 50th! Worse still, it's happened accross the whole account. Reasonably performing ads have just died, appearing at the bottom of the results, even with ridiculous bids.

Yet somehow, it's spread to other accounts linked in our MCC. Ads that have been running for months removed for "trademark" issues. I DOUBLED the bid on one ad that was in 2nd place, and it dropped to 9th. It's almost as if someone at Google has changed something on our account. We can't even get hold of our rep - apparently the whole of Google isn't in the office.

Help!

Hi,

The budget exceeded message does sound from all reports to be somewhat spurious.

It sounds to me like your activities may have triggered a review of your whole account, which may take a while. Send G a polite but urgent email from within your account to please finish whatever they are doing ASAP and get your account back on track!

Rgds
