I created a site targeted campaign yesterday at about 18:00 UK time. As of now - about 24 hours later it is showing zero impressions. Is this normal? I've not just picked a Max CPM out of thin air; i've done some maths and worked it out. Therefore, I don't want to bid any more if my ad is not showing because it has not been approved yet. Yet, if my ad has been approved but the algo is simply not picking it for display then I would like to know that in order that I can bid more. It's so frustrating, I can't be the only one that feels completely in the dark about what's going on with site targeting. Any pointers?
Secondly, the site that I am targeting shows AdSense within Leaderboard containers. Another advertiser, who is obviously successfully targeting this site has their text ad (definitely not an image - you can select the text) showing exclusively within the full 728 by 90 frame. What do I have to do; either administratively or by performance / bid in order to achieve this? Again, I can find nothing about this on AdWords help, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
1) Make sure that your bid is high enough to get some impressions. Be prepared to overbid to start with, and then tune for efficiency/cost later.
2) Wait for your ad to be approved by G; if it is taking more than about 48 hours write them a note from the "contact us" link. They've always been VERY prompt to approve things for me when I do that.
3) Make sure that you are targetting the correct URL(s)!

Apologies if i'm overlooking something obvious; but how can I tell from the AdWords interface whether or not the ad has been approved?

Create one additional ad text with elaborate spelling mistake, when they approve other ads; you'll get an email saying:
After reviewing your account, we've found that one or more of your ads or keywords does not meet our guidelines. You can see your disapproved ad(s), the reason for disapproval, and editorial suggestions, from the Disapproved Ads page within your account.

Obviously when you site target and enter a CPM model, only your ad is displayed in the container, no one elses.
Duh! Shoulda' figured :) Thanks for pointing that out! My site targeted campaign is in full swing now and looking good so far - higher CTR than search at the moment, and quality traffic too - which is nice.
