Hi,

For months I've been trying to get some PPC traffic from Google via their Adwords program. Last month I had about 25 clicks:( No matter what terms I bid on my average rank is still around 10-15. These are not so popular terms that I also use with Yahoo (Overture) and for most of them I'm the only one bidder in Overture. I don't understand why with Adwords so many people bid on these unpopular terms.

Also, I don't see many impressions. I actually have many more impressions with Yahoo/Overture for the same terms. From my experience with organic traffic Google is much more popular than Yahoo and MSN taken together. Am I doing something wrong maybe?

Thanks for any input.

More advertisers show on Google for these queries because their matching is soooo much more advanced than Yahoos.

You are likely seeing Google Broad matches for these unpopular queries... on Yahoo, their "Advanced Match" (ironically named) does not have this ability... type in a popular item name as a query on Yahoo. (try a famous MP3 player, for instance) Now, combine that item name with your first and last name. Likely - no results show...

Try bidding on these unpopular terms on Google on Exact Match... now review the landscape of bidders. Your ranking should improve. But, if the real money is in the broad matches... you'll have to find someway to convert better to afford more.

Hello Poster_Boy,

My listings are Exact Match but still I don't rank well. For instance there's a group of phrases for which I rank 1st on Yahoo. In fact I'm the only one advertiser bidding on these phrases (Exact Match). In Google however I rank 19th. That's such a big discrepancy and it makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong.
