Changed AdSense login, now I can't log into AdWords anymore

I have an AdSense and an AdWords account, which used different login names. Since Google is changing the Login anyways, I decided to use the same login for both accounts, so I had them change my AdSense Login to the one I use on AdWords.

If I try to log into AdWords, I get a screen saying that they identified me as an AdSense Publisher, and whether I want to create a NEW AdWords account! But there is now way for me to log into my EXISTING AdWords account!

I was afraid that my existing account got deleted altogether but my ads are still showing. I tried to contact Google but you know how long THAT can take...

Any advice?

Had the same problem earlier this week and already had a reply. Difference is I made a new AdSense account in addition to an AdWords account running for a few months already.

First suggestion from google was to change the login details for adwords... Not an option, since I can't log in to AdWords.

Second suggestion was to email AdSense staff with the details I wanted changed. They wanted me to also state when my AdSense account details first had started recording details. Also not possible because it's a new account still under review so no ads have been shown so far...

Luckily the problem seems to have solved itself, I can login to AdWords again. But don't ask me why..

I've had the same glitch. I've found that rather than clicking the adwords link through the google homepage, Just go directly to this link: [adwords.google.com...]

and log in, and it seems to work fine. Not sure why.

I get the same message you do if I try and log in the other way - it started right after I created an adsense account with the same email address as my adwords account.

Got the same reply as HStiepel - they told me to change my Login at [google.com...] - which I did. However the problem persisted.

Ha! The account change has changed my gmail-account too - only that I did not intend to change it at all!

I think Google's username/pw/account handling is severely flawed!

I STILL can't login, the AdSense guys haven't changed my address yet, and the AdWords support isn't really helpful. But it seems I am not the only one having that problem, since they have set up a customized error page now: [adwords.google.com...]

I'm back in!

Got a call from a rep today, and HE had to go into my account and INVITE me into that account. That finally worked!

The phone rep was really helpful, and now I have a phone number and an access code to call in whenever I get into trouble again!

pmkpmk,

Were you able to use the same login for both Adsense and Adwords or did you have to set up separate Google and gmail accounts?

I had to set up a new, seperate Google Account (NOT a Gmail account). Having the same username on AdSense and AdWords does NOT work - which even Google admits - and was the cause for all the confusion.

And my problem could NOT be solved from the outside, no matter what we tried. The rep had to actively go into my account and take action.

Thanks much for the clarification. The way I had read it was that you had to set up a separate gmail account also and I didn't want to hassle with that. I don't run Adwords that often and it would be just as easy and efficient for me to just drop it entirely instead of jumping through Google hoops. I'll give it another shot and see what happens.
