So my AdWords campaign has been running for about a year. It has been very successful for my company, and many thanks to this forum for all the advice. On Friday one of the big wigs in the company basically told me he wanted us to start bidding on competitor brand names.
The way my memory serves me is the following, you can bid on whatever keyword you want you are just unable to display that trademarked term in the ad. I understand the law is a bit fuzzy and none of this is settled. If you were a gambling man, would this be cool to do?
The reason this is even an issue is that our company name is basically the popular keyword in our niche. So everyone bids on our name, but to date we haven't bid on our competitor's business names as they have nothing to do with a keyword.
