Will this scenario cause my CPC to increase?

I was number one on the right side of the listings with no ad in the blue box. I was paying .03 per click with a 2.7% CTR. Not bad considering how many searches it gets and that it is on the side instead of the top.

Now today there is someone elses ad in the top blue and my CTR has dwindled to .9% on the top of the right side.

If I am not given the opportunity to be shown in the blue box, will my CPC increase do to lower performance?

It wouldn't seem fair for my cpc to increase just because of a drop in performance caused by giving someone else a spot above me.

You can't say it's not fair, I think its just that your new competitor is getting a high clickthrough due to a well written ad, and perhaps also paying to be at the top. He isnt getting any special favours, anyone can get into the blue with the right combination of clickthrough and cpc. What that combination is, I dont know for sure.

Have you tried writing a better ad or increasing your cpc?

His ad was nearly identical to mine. If my ad was in the top it would do equally as well...

I can't seem to get mine up top for some reason. If it is due to the CTR, I will never be able to get a chance at a high one.

It is fair. That's the way the system works. Just bid higher.

But my ad still doesn't move to the top no matter how high I bid...
