Budget Optimiser?

It optimised a keyword to "inactive" status!

I turned it on.

It altered my max CPCs

It raised some, lowered others.

One it lowered and made inactive ;)

Now that one is amusing, because it is meant to maximise clicks! So I thik we have immediate proof that Budget Optimiser is flawed! Or did we need that proof?

This is fun! Budget Optimiser has now optimised a secind keyword to "Inactive".

So is it me or is it it? I thought it was meant to optimise the keywords to get clicks, not to stop them from being served. Am I mistaken?

Not sure, but the optimizer existed before the new minimum cpc changes were implemented so I guess it doesnt take that into account.

My guess is that it disabled a high cost keyword, in order to have more clicks on lower costing keywords.

It maximise the total clicks your account get I recon, but not maximising the total click a keyword gets.

Actually I started very low and decided to let the optimiser set the optimal CPC. It kept some, edged some up, sent one through the roof, and lowered the now two offending ones below its self imposed threshold for inactivity.

But it is meant to optimise! And the inactive keywords do not look as if many people would compete for them.

I asked Support about this once, and was told basically that if I was worried about keywords going inactive, don't use the optimizer.
