Hi, what's that operator you use if you want to see how a search returns in a particular country? I saw it in a post like yesterday and I can't find it now.

Thanks

Right, that's the country search operator. But how about local search. Say if I want to check the ads targeting local area A from area B, what kind of codes I should use?

Dont think it can be done, would think there would have to be an infinite number of codes.

Hey, this sounds like a good opportunity for an experiment. I live in the US, and I have had the same question. Maybe we can give each other a hand. Let’s do a search for a couple keywords in our own countries and then post the results.

What country are you from?
I live in Albuquerque, NM.

One keyword I like is eBay. Whoever is using it shouldn't be. According to eBay's rules affiliates can’t bid on their trademark as a keyword, so I don't see any harm in costing the advertiser an impression or two. Save the page, so we can compare later if we need to.

Right now I get three ads for the keyword eBay. I get one that is advertising eBay, one that is advertising on how to start a business, and one that’s advertising about shopping. The third ad is showing up in what looks like German. I guess someone made a mistake on the language options.

It seems like the last time I did a search for eBay I got an ad that was Geo Targeted. Under the ad it showed New Mexico. If you see anything like that please mention it.

For the other search maybe something generic that I know there will be a lot of advertisers for. I think “Online Business” should have a lot of advertisers. Remember we are costing someone an impression by doing the search, so we shouldn’t click on an ad and cost someone a click too.

For Online business I got three ads in the blue and a full eight ads on the first page. After that it was tough to count. When I clicked for more ads I ended up on page 3. It looked like a full page too. I saved all four pages, so I can count them by hand if we need to. For now I think we can try to compare with what we have. none were Geo Targeted.

Another might be “Cheap Airline Tickets”
I got eight ads. None were Geo Targeted.

If you want to participate do the searches in your country and the US and post your results. Once I know where you are I can do the searches in your country.

I’ve got to go to work. I’ll be able to check this tonight. We have to try to do things quickly because the number of advertisers might change.
