Can we know when new visitors click our ads?

I know we can track various events, but the thing I'd most like to know is how often a visitor that arrives to my site by clicking on my ads clicks through to one of my advertisers.

Is there any way of ascertaining this information?

There's lots of ways to track that, but without knowing more about your site I can't really tell you.

In general what you want is a back end software on your web server that will track every time someone clicks on one of these links, which is basically what an affiliate program software does.

Check hotscripts.com for link tracking, affiliate program software, and web stat software, and you will probably find some easy to use php script that will do what you want and work for your website.
