Advertising freesite referrals

Has anyone tried this and done it with success? I made a site to basically advertise my freeipods, etc.. links. The site just basically tells you about it and provides proof articles as well as pictures. Obviously i placed my referral link on the main page. I first tried Adbrite run-of-network ad and bid 5 cents per click but got clicks very very slowly ( got about 4 in more than 12 hour period). I am now trying adwords. I put a whole bunch of keywords related to it and put a bid of 10 cents per click. The clicks are also coming very slowly. Any ideas? Any help is appreciated. I am new here so if this type of discussion is not allowed i apologize.

What rankings are your ads?

I'd expect there to be a fairly robust response to a free widget site ad, but having it in the top 5 or so greatly increases your response rate.

I'm not entirley sure, but I'd guess that you probably could bid more than most people given the fact that (ideally) a single visitor to a free widgets site should refer many more people.
