Billed in Excess of Maximum CPC

Has anyone been billed for clicks in excess of the maximum cpc you set for the ad group? This happened to me in 2 separate ad groups yesterday. (I double-checked to make sure the keywords in question didn't have keyword-specific max cpcs over-riding the adgroup max cpc.)

Is Adwords aware of this problem if anyone from Google is reading this?

Is sometimes goes over up to 20% on a day, but over a 30/31 day period will NEVER spend more then the allowance, e.g £10/day, in a month will never go over £310, but some days it might spend upto £12.

I thought that applied only to campaign budgets. Individual keywords (as far as I know) are never supposed to exceed the max cpc.

Keep an eye on it for a few more days and see if Google credits you for the excess charge.

They have done that with my account in the past.

Did you click the "increase minimum bid" for this particular keyword?

It looks like the AdWords Group maximum bid no longer applies if you have manually raised the bid of individual keywords to get them back on-line after all the changes.

This is sticky ground for AdWords. We have AdWord Groups where we have a maximum bid set at 5¢ and have had to change some keywords within the group to 10¢ to get them back on-line.

Which bid applies?

Probably the higher one :-)

Yes, but as I mentioned, I hadn't tweaked any of the individual keyword bids in this case - they were set at the default (i.e. adgroup cpc).
