Same Keywords, Different Destinations?

Does Adwords allow it?

Hi,

Sorry for the newbie question, but I am wondering if I am allowed to have 2 seperate campaigns that target the same keywords but lead to different sites. Or, will google only show one ad at a time for my account?

Thanks!

You are not allowed to have two accounts for the same business nor to bid against yourself, and the situation you describe will result in the later-added terms being recognized as dupes and removed.

To use different Target URLs, create the AdGroups and get the terms in there, then create multiple ads with different Target URLs for the terms you want to do this for.

Thanks, SS. That makes sense. I will try the multiple ad groups with different target pages. I knew there had to be a way to split test landing pages :)

Hi,

I believe the question of Ecw02 doesn't concern 2 accounts.
It's about using the same keyword in 2 separate campaigns.
I have different campaigns using the same keywords.
There is no particular reason for it, it's just like that.
G doesn't remove or disable one of these keywords.
Sometimes one of them just doesn't generate impressions and the other (same) keyword does. Sometimes they switch sides for no reason. Is it against the TOS to have 2 of the exact same keywords in 2 separate campaigns?

Not at all, do it all the time.

ecw02, you can also use multiple ads within one Ad Group to split test. Just give each creative (ad copy) its own Destination URL. Do make sure the Display URL (the one that shows in the ad) and the Destination URL (the actual address of the page the user goes to) are in the same domain though - so that the ads will be approvable.
