Hi there, I also wrote this to AW support but "as everytime" I got a copy&paste answer which is far from what I want to hear.

I have campaigns which I want to be served on on websites which are using AdSense. I checked out "search network" on the campaign settings page and left only "content network" checked. Now, when I go to Googgle search and make a search on that keyword, my ad appears on the right of the page.

Now, my question is: If Google is a part of the content network, what is search network? :) For me, because Google is a search engine too, it must be in the search network group but not in the content network. What if I already have the first position on that keyword?

Google is Google, and Google is always activated. You can decide to add content network, a network of normal sites that display the ads, and you can decide to add search network, a network of search sites that display the ads.

You can not deactivate Ads on Google (and all it's properties) - only search and content network can.

The point i'm trying to make here is that I already have top positions in almost any keyword. Now you may think that why I still want to advertise then.. The reason is that I want to improve the quality of my traffic by targeting the ads to websites in US&UK only. Yes, maybe people in my position are not too much but I will never advertise in that conditions, as paying for a click -if you already have one on the left side which you don't pay- is meaningless.

Afaik, there is only one way to opt out of Google while showing up in the content network. If you start a new campaign using Site Targeting instead of Keyword Targeting, then load up some animated banners as well as some text ads, you can target specific websites without having to show up in the serps, but you'll have to pay a minimum $2.00 CPM
