I remember reading in a thread on this forum that it is possible to set up a separate campaign for the content network using the same keywords as the Search network. Is this possible. I looked for the thread but I could not find it. Could someone either point me to the right thread or help me out!

Hi Oshburg

It's straightforward. Set up two campaigns with the same keywords / phrases. (You have to set up 2 CAMPAIGNS for it to work).

Then set one campaign to show search and not content. Set the second to show content and not search. You'll find the settings to change in the 'manage campaign' settings (where you can change the name of the campaign etc).

Hope you find it OK.

I understand what you mean when you say start two campaigns. But won't they overlap because you automatically have to have Google as an advertiser. If you set up two campaigns one with just search network and one with just the content network, both of them will be set up for Google. How will Google determine which ad to show? Will this cause any problems?

The Campaign with the higher Ad Rank(which now is CPC * Quality Score) will be shown on Google. Typically I tend to keep CPC for the Search Campaign to be higher than the CPC for the content campaign. So the ads from the Search Campaign is shown mostly on Google. There is of course a possiblility for "leakages".
