it only did it for one search for me, it had the very top sponsored ad (usually in blue) as a bright yellow, then an ad under is (second blue ad usually) in a green, then on the right all the adwords ads were in green with the interest meter back, might have been a glitch, might have been a taste of things to come, i took a screen shot but had to delete everything relevant to the search as it is relevant to my line of work, however you can get the jist of it, since no urls are allowed i will give u the link via pm to the pic uploaded if you wish, or of the mods want to allow it just this once i can show u.

Kinda cool if it is a taste of things to come.

Cool. Thanks for the image, inferno. It definitely looks like a test. It'd be very interesting to see Google bring back the "interest bar" on its ads. I remember there used to be a "back door" to seeing the interest bar at google.com/unclesam (see [webmasterworld.com...] But it looks like Google has shut down that feature. (and it's weird that [google.com...] doesn't work with the additional forward slash at the end.)

Maybe Google's new "Quality Score" makes knowing ad CTR and the "interest bar" less of a competitive issue... and if Yahoo changes their ad bids to be dependent on CTR, publishing CTR bars could throw some kind of wrench into their system.

Apparently, Yahoo might actually change its ad bid system completely sometime in early 2006. I'm not sure I can link to other non-WebmasterWorld forums, but follow the instructions in msg #17 of this thread:

heh. just a thought.. isn't there a green-yellow color blindness? perhaps ads geared for women only get the color-blindess treatment... :D So for that small fraction of color blind men, the ads aren't highlighted...

though, then again, why are color blind men searching for "women" targeted keywords? I guess the ads might be for women, and the keywords are neutral...

anyways... just a random thought. Good catch, inferno.

Heheh. As a color-blind former product designer, I couldn't resist posting to this thread. ;)

As I recall, about 10% of the male population (and pretty much zero % of the female population) are color-blind (color deficient, really), and I think red/green color-blindness is the most common.

For example, I can't tell the difference between blue and purple - because the difference is red, which I can't see accurately.

And pale minty green looks like tan.

Want to make me feel bad? Comment on all the colors you see in a rainbow. I see just a couple. :(

Ok, was this was probably my most off-topic post ever.

inferno, as is sometimes noted in this Forum, AdWords often tests new formats for short periods - in order to evaluate their value to both users and advertisers.

I suspect that you've seen one such test.
