Unless I am missing something here, you might want to do a Google Sponsored search when evaluating how much competition you have for a particular keyword. Maybe that is the norm and I am just not experienced enough to know better.
Maybe this is why a lot of advertisers are thinking that their ads are not showing since there is no “More Sponsored Links” at the bottom of the sponsored results.
Web search only shows one page of advertisers:
[google.com...]
VS
Sponsored search which shows more then one page:
[google.com...]
Also the Result Page Next link at the bottom of the sponsored search can be misleading. It shows for this search that only 2 pages of results exist, but if you keep hitting the Next link you will actually find out that there are 6 pages of advertisers.
I noticed this before but it reacts differently depending on the keyword.
Does anyone else see this?
Is there a better way to determine level of competition? Better tools?
My searches are being done in Texas.
I apologize if this has already been discussed.
Thanks for your help
Ernie
What happened to this one?
[google.com...]
I was going to tell Ernie about this, but it's stopped working. The above used to turn up all advertisers bidding on keyword.
Sounds similar to the problem in this thread:

I think you are right that it is some how related to the problem discussed at:
[webmasterworld.com...]
I have had the same issue as discussed in the above topic also in some of my keywords. I have had the top spot for a keyword with a sponsored search and zero on a web search.
I thought it was just an anomaly because not all of my keywords behaved the same way.
Looks like they fixed the one I posted earlier in this topic. But I can find hundreds of them all day long. Here is another one, at least until they fix it:
Web search:
[google.com...]
VS
Sponsored search:
[google.com...]
Hopefully AWA can step in with some info regarding this subject soon.
I am not going to post them all day long because I don't want to anger the group...But I do personally think it is a major issue because I know many people who actually use the sponsored searches because they are more targeted to what they are looking for. If they don't see the "More Sponsored Links" they think there is no more results and stop looking there.
Thanks for your response
Ernie
PS I have read many of your post and really appreciate all the help you have contributed to this group. I have been successfully using Adwords for 9 months now and I attribute that to all the great webmasterworld members here. Thanks to all for your wisdom, knowledge and willingness to help others.
