Just noticed that 4 of the ads on a search I perform frequently are showing the locations that those ads are targeted for directly under the display url. Two show the state and the other two show the DMA.
Is this new? I couldn't find it posted...recently at least. If it's a cookie-based test, I can do screenshots.

That's been that way for quite some time. Not sure when it started although I think it's been that way almost from the start. (Showing country at first, then later state/city as that feature rolled in.)
