Hi guys

What chances I have to get some clicks if my add is displayed on page 8 or 9 (competitive market)? Would I reach CTR 0.5 or campaign will be slowed?

I would also like to know after how many impressions can you make the conclusion how the campaign will perform?

After how many impression you guys make changes (if there is a need)?

hi,

I wouldn't think you'll get too many clicks or impressions on the 8th page. you'd need to increase your max cpc initially to help improve your ctr. once you build up a better ctr you may be able to reduce the max cpc but keep a reasonable position.

I would usually leave it for 1000 impressions before making any changes, but i also use 3-4 ads per adgroup as well so i can see what is working and always develop the one with the best ctr and delete the worst one.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. I make the changes (increase my max ppc and daily budget) and I get some clicks already.

I have 2 campaign with 4 ad groups and 2 adds in each campaign. I will follow it closely and we will see what will happen.

Thanks again for your advice.

zoreli, I'd guess that you may be using rather general keywords, which tend to be more expensive if you are hoping for first page placement.

If you happen to be using single word keywords, for example, I'd also try using some more specific two to four word keywords as well.

So, to pick a silly example, let's say you are selling 'wild bird identification software' to bird watchers.

You would not want to use single-word keywords like 'software' or 'bird' or 'wild' in your keyword list. It would be more effective (and probably cheaper too) to use a bunch of keywords similar to these instead:

* bird identification software
* bird id software
* bird identification program
* bird id program
* wild bird identification
* identify wild birds
* and so on, and so forth...

This example is intentionally goofy, since we can't mention specifics on this forum - but I hope it gives you the general idea.

Hi Awa

I already use 2,3 and 4 words keyphrases and I didn't include any keywords from 1 word in my list.

However the market is so competitive (between 80-130 adds for each keyword) so I was forced to raise my daily budget and my PPC max price to get chance to be seen.

Thanks for the sugesstions

Anyone know if there is any money to be made in "wild bird identification software"?

Position 46 can be on page 1 if the person has the default results set to 100. This is very bad for CTR as you are miles down a list.

My advice is to spend ages on writing a few really good ads, set them loose with a high CPC but low daily budget. This won't eat all of your cash but will allow your ads to show at the higher places. If the CTR is high then slowly bring the max CPC down to a level you are happy with, this may keep your position.
