I have thought about starting an AdWords campaign. I went through the start of the sign up and it looks like our keywords are not competitive and I could go for 5 or 10 cents per click.

Just a bit worried.. I'm assuming there is some filter in place to ignore multiple clicks from one source? If not, someone could sit and click away your kids inheritance...

Not sure if it's worth doing since we are already ranked pretty well for most keywords. But nice if we can be on the page twice to get double the chance of a click.

Yup - there is. Speak to one of the Adwords reps if you want your mind put at ease.

That's the beauty of adwords - you can try this for a while, do the maths, and if it's not benefiting the bottom line: drop them.

If you KWs are not competative, than you probably don't have anything to worry about. There is a filter that tries to detect fraud clicks but a wiley and knowledgable person can get around them. Of course, that wiley person would be wasting a lot of their time doing such a stupid thing but, that's another story.

Most of the keywords I am on are under a dollar and I have only been hit by fraud seriously once. As long as you monitor your ads and keep an eye out for unusual activity, you should be fine.

You can also set a daily budget cap so that you can prevent being hurt too bad if suddennly things aren't going as you thought they would.

The estimated traffic can sometimes be really off. We have many non-competitive terms that get much a higher CTR than the estimates. The daily spend cap protects you from sudden surprises. Just make sure it is high enough to cover the high spots of the week. If not you could find your ad only being displayed part of the time.
