Now the Sponsored link is coming to an end are you sticking more cash into SEO or just going to go into a bidding war on adwords?

Me SEO and stocking up on cash for the top spot.

I think it will swing both ways.

Certain players NEED sales everyday, whilst waiting for ANY seo work to show its rewards.

On the other hand SEO is NOT free, it is just another paid form of marketing, whether its done by yourself or a 3rd party.

I suppose the trick is to benefit from Adwords and Natural Listings.

Agree Shak!

An AdWord to the clicker - I NEED TO BUY IT NOW!

A ranked listing to the clicker - I NEED INFORMATION NOW, and maybe buy, or maybe look for some more information to compare!

... #1 ranked results and #1 AdWord is darn near -- an unbeatable combination. With the exception of having that short-lived premium sponsor ad in the mix.

SEO? What is that? It is AdWords all the way.. :)

Thankfully, not all the surfers think so. The day that happens, the effectiveness of Google AdWords will be diminished.

And for most commercial keywords (eg - web hosting), there is frankly no difference between a AdWords listing and a ranked listing.

Will there be a bidding war on adwords? I'm not so sure, I mean the premium spots only held two advertisers and on the keywords in the past where the premiums weren't filled so the adwords CPC advertisers could move up, I never saw a higher than average bid amount.

I honestly do think that at this point in time you need a healthy mix of paid and unpaid listings to get the best results possible.

Obviously it depends what industry you are in but what do you pay on google compared to oveture per click?

To clarify:

All on same phrases.

#1 Rank Position > average 1.5% conversions

#1 AdWord > average 2.5% conversions (not accumulated)

Premium Ad > average 5% conversions (not accumulated)

So 7.5% compared to 1.5% is a site more buyers buying now (in the same session).
