Has anyone seen the adwords ads that promote non adwords systems? I have noticed many ads like this lately. A search query for "adwords" will bring up many of them.

I wonder if google knows about this and if they will shut down those accounts? Is it smart for these people to publicly bash the adwords system on google using the same system they are putting down?

Seems strange to me, anyone else?

We had billboards in Cleveland once that talked about how much Clear Channel sucked (they bought a popular radio station and changed the format).

The protestors never quite realized they were buying billboards from a subsidary of Clear Channel.

I think it's funny as hell, personally.

I see satellite ads on cable TV (the cable channels, obviously, and sometimes the OTA broadcast stations).

I figure that most ad agencies (Google included) don't care if you're advertising competing products, as long as you pay them to advertise said products.

I got the wrong idea, but it worked.

One of the ads mentioned had in the title "<ad text removed>", so I assumed it was an anti-AdWords site. But once I clicked through, I found that they were really selling AdWords training.

None of the other ads in the 3 pages were bashing AdWords.

I suspect the advertisers know what they're doing, and if what they're doing helps more people buy AdWords, then Google has no reason to shut them, no matter what the ad says.
