Just curious why google suggests a CPC of 4.65 for my keyword yet I am able to bid only .05 and still maintain the 4th or 5th spot. I am not complaining for sure but wondering if my competitors are paying that much per click?

The way I understand it is yea that is how much your competitors are paying, sounds like you found a good spot, hang on to it and tell no one!

the estimate that google provides is the amount that you would have to bid to USUALLY be shown the top spot. it is theoretically possible to have the top bidder bid $10.00 and then 10 advertisers bid $.05 - so with a good CTR you could be in 2nd place.
keep in mind, that the top bidder only has to pay 1 cent more than the next highest bidder, so even if he bid $10, he only pays $.06 per click.
you just found a niche where there is a steep decline between the top bidder(s) and the runner-ups.

Thats a good point but if there telling him 4th-5th spot then 2 and 3 are bidding more then .05 but thats very true that he doesnt have to be paying that higher amount to be in the number 1 spot.
