Updating ad causes protocol to change!

Editing an ad make the protocol change to https://

I usually set my ads for the holiday and not worry, check when I come back. This time I edited some ad copy and bids and left. I discovered that the ads I had edited had their protocols changed to https:// when I did not do that. (As of now I still can't even edit them back, change does not take) This won't work on our site, so google doesn't forward the user to our site after a click. Their server throws a 400, BUT they charge us for the click! I've had to shut all of our ads down that I edited (most of them) while waiting for them to fix it. Anyone else have this problem? Try editing an ad, then go back and check the protocol. I'd love to hear I'm not alone so that I might get my money back easier.

I had similar happen. I edited ads but I never edited their links. The link was http://example.com and I tested each ad to make sure everything worked. I left for the weekend, came back and found them ALL set to http://example.comexample.com

Don't bother complaining. The first thing they tell you is that it's not possible for that to happen on it's own and that some one at your organization must have changed it (even though you're the only one with a password).

I was able to change mine back, but you said your changes won't take. So you're still gonna have to suffer though contacting some one there and hope they help you in a timely manor. Sorry :-(

I will say though that the other day, I used the form to get help on another issue, and they indeed called me the next day and left a message to say that the issue was fixed. I can't say that will happen for you though, but let's hope.

Good luck.

Yeah, they said it was me, I should check with my server. (whatever that means) Hopefully I can get the refund. I never edited the urls, but can't change the procotol back anyway. I did a test. I created a new ad, then edited the copy and saved. When I go to edit again the protocol is set to [....] So any edit will change it and you can't change it back. That is clearly not my server ;-)

The additional funny part is the url will actually work, but we don't have ssl cert for that particular domain being used, so you get the ssl warning from the browser if you try it manually. So the google server must check the cert and it bombs out. The one time I did mess up a url in an ad, it was disabled because of bad url.
