Looking for other places to put our $

Since google has been non-responsive to my email requests and our natural results are in the tank, I'd like to pull my $400/mo. spend with them and re-direct it elsewhere but still get reasonable results.

funny, I just moved my $400/mo. spend on to Overture where I was already spending $150/mo. Now they have it all. I spoke to a adwords rep who said he would pass my concerns onto the user support team. My expecations are very low though.

Wow, this is a good thread.

Maybe we should all put more pressure on G so that they listen.

Same thing here. Just up OV by 50%, reduce G by more 50%.

I'm sure there are other avenues. Also looking at Adbrite...

I did the opposite earlier this year and pretty much stopped Overture because it seemed to be a money pit and the editorial process just plain #$#$%.

I was a bit appalled to be asked to make a transatlantic phone call just so I could spend my money with them, but after Adwords Hell its looking like a bargain.

eyeinthesky why is this a good thread?

"I'm gonna put my money into OV...I'm gonna put my money into AW..." does not constitute a good thread unless you have shares in arbitrage inc.

Never mind...I get it; ...that's good enough for me.

It's great someone has raised this in its own thread, and I think *both* of the previous posts are correct. The two SEs don't care about customers--it's just business--although they do a decent job of masking it (G in particular) behind a smiling face. But it's also true that money talks, and enough grumbling, revolt, and reallocation of funds can get results.

There are smaller SEs, but results from them are apparently mixed, and word has it that some are rife with click fraud. Probably the best bet is to wait till MSN begins paid search, which should be fairly soon. (Oh, the irony of looking to Microsoft to save us from Google . . . or anything . . .)

Google has embraced Black Hat sites with the bourbon release and my very customer focused non-spammy site is now at the bottom of the list. By using the inrul command, I might have found out why. However, I emailed them and all I got was links to faq and other worthless replies.

I pulled my spend to make a statement. I also let them know I took it to their competitor. If others would do the same maybe they would wake up a realize that we all expect a clean SE that contains no span, can eliminate 301 redirects easily, and doesn't confuse URLs without the 'www' and those that have it as two different sites. Hello, if I was building a "google" these are the basics that I'd handle during indexing.

How easy is it to realize that if you have the same domain page cached 11 times and the only variations are URL variables or something else as mentioned above, then they are probably the same page, right?

I'd love to hear more are doing the same. With some numbers we can impact change.

Hi stroudtx

I think you have hit a good point, if you are not happy with your expenditure on adwords you take it to another network.

stroudtx has now done something regarding his situation.

I hate that I had to put money back in google. Overture was bringing 1/4 of the traffic and conversions. I hope, and I hope that Microsoft does indeed compete soon head to head with them. Perhaps then, they will listen to us here!

Despite any issues we may have with Adwords, advertisers are continuing to pour more money into adwords, so I think this may be the reason google is a bit lax with bourbon.
