AWA's away thread

I thought I'd create a thread that I can bring back to the top of the page as needed, to provide a heads-up as to when I'll be out of the office, and not able to post on WebmasterWorld. Just so folks don't feel ignored if I don't respond for a few days...

Here in the U.S. we're about to celebrate Independence Day, otherwise known as the 4th of July - and I'll be away on both the 4th and 5th. I've gotta go visit family in the mysterious 'Land of no Computers or Internet Connection'.

And then, as a really early heads-up, I'll almost certainly be away between 7/25 and 8/1.

My current plan for this more-extended-than-usual absence from WebmasterWorld is to ask a trusted colleague to watch over things, and post as needed using my ID and login. I'll have them sign each post as AWA_2 or something clever like that, so you'll be able to tell at a glance.

Now, if I can just arrange with Brett to not count those AWA_2 posts in my post count. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but my post count actually matters to me - and I want it to be accurate!

Why not just have the backup make an AWA_2 nick?

It's not like you won't be taking more extended vacations over the next couple years.

Have a good vacation, always necessary to get away from the 'net for a few days ;)

Hi again,

Yep, another one of those days where I'm getting to WebmasterWorld really late. I have to head out in a few minutes, but wanted to clarify my first post before I go.

So, I'll be gone until July 6th, but for this break I will not have a 'clone'*. That'll happen on my longer break later in July. Wasn't sure if I'd been clear enough about that.

eWhisper, I may just suggest a new nick, so long as mods don't mind. (And evidently, they don't.)

By the way, I actually never figured on another extended vacations. It's pretty much been a day here or there my entire working life. But I may get used to a whole week off!

I refuse to go to any of those pesky places myself ;) My summer vacation will be spent on the flybridge of my parent's boat... with sunscreen and WiFi :)

I go into neural shock when I'm away from an internet connection for over an hour which makes travel difficult at best.

I can't even drink a beer on the patio without a laptop...
