What is the deal here?
Murdoch, based on a lack of other people reporting this same issue - either on this Forum, or in the several hundred support emails I read each day - I'd say that this problem has to do with the unique interaction of AdWords and your machine.
Many issues of this type can be resolved by simply rebooting your computer, opening a fresh login page at adwords.google.com (rather than a bookmarked page), and trying again.
Sometimes just trying a different browser will do the trick. Or updating your browser to a current version, if it's old.
You may also want to clear your cache and cookies, check that your security settings are set to accept cookies, or make sure that cookies are enabled at least for google.com, and so forth.
It might also be a good idea to contact AdWords support with detailed info, including your OS, browser, browser version, etc. - along with a description of when this happens, how often, and so forth.

Thanks Again!
It just upsets me when I'm right near the end and then I have to remember all the keywords and ads I've just typed in.
I'm with you on that point, Murdoch!
I think it's a pretty good idea to prepare keyword lists (and maybe even ad copy) 'offline', rather than in the AdWords interface. And then just cut and paste when everything is ready.
There are several advantages to this, the most important being that you won't lose your work.
But, IMO, it's also nice to be able to create an AdWords folder on your desktop, with other folders within it for keyword lists, ad creatives, etc.
Done right, it gives you a good running record of what you've done, and when.
