Keywords and phrases

Hi

I've recently setup an adwords account for a client working in the petroleum services industry. Due to the bespoke nature of their work most of the keywords and phrases are unique i.e. “hydrocracking” and “sulfinol process”. Unfortunately the majority of my keywords don't meet Googles quality threshold and are placed in trial or onhold, making it very difficult to yield good CTR's and results. I've tried searching for alternatives via sandbox but I end up with the same problem. Also when I use obvious key words like “refinery” and “petrochemical” I find these too are on hold or disabled.

Is it something I’m doing wrong? Any advice more than welcome

Many thanks!

Obviously Google is not ready for such a specialised subject as petro-chemical refining. Are you sure your client needs to advertise in a search engine? What happens when you do a search on those keywords/phrases? Do you get lots of results, or is your client's site returned within the first few results?

They're not returned within the first few results unfortunately. They need to advertise because the performance of the website is measured on page impressions.. .

Either you solved the problem or two of your competitors have, because when I searched on the keywords you mentioned I found two sponsored links.

You probably don't have enough patience. Just because a keyword goes on hold on in trial doesn't mean it's going to stay that way. If your ad text is good enough, it will go normal after some time.
