Has anyone else experienced this?

When I click on some of my ads (whether inside the adwords administration area or in the actual search results), instead of going to the proper destination URL I end up at Microsoft.com.

I actually can't really believe it's happening, but I keep testing it and it keeps being the same. Some ads do this, some don't. Needless to say, I've never typed microsoft.com in as a destination URL, even as a joke.

I don't know how long it's been going on, or how much money has been wasted.

Any suggestions?

Thanks very much,

Joe

Sometimes if you have malformed urls, certain browsers will interpret it different then you may think, and it ends up going to another site.. such as microsoft.

Try this fun example, using Firefox browser go to:

[webmasterworld.com...]

for me, that ends up at micro$oft....

Thanks. I think that's exactly the problem.

It's oddly reassuring that it's my fault...

In Firefox, using the default configuration, putting "http://keyword" in the address field has the same result as going to Google, typing "keyword", and hitting "I'm Feeling Lucky". For some reason, the number 1 result for "http" in the Google SERP is www.microsoft.com.

I've also almost accidently included the http: in my destination URL.

Perhaps this should get picked up by Googles automated Ad-checker?
